Things Which Lie Ahead

This editorial was inspired from excerpts taken from a Televised message delivered by
the late David Breeze of the King Is Coming Broadcast from Sunday, November 8th, 1998.

That televised gospel message on the King Is Coming Telecast began with a wrap up of
the events leading up to the Rapture of the Church and then following that blessed hope
the tribulation period which marks the beginning of the “Day of The Lord” as spoken of
in the Apostle Paul’s 2nd letter to the Thessalonians Chapter 2: verses 1-12.

In that time yet future during the early stages of the Tribulation the man of sin, the
Antichrist, having begun his world deceiving march against the people of planet earth
may present grand and flowering statements that will undoubtedly convince many to
follow him in ecstasy for the promises he will claim to deliver. But alas the world will
follow this man to the place of it’s own destruction. He will organize a world Religion, A
world Economy, and world Army as he plans a world take over. But there is one problem
that faces him he will be unable to wrest. “Jerusalem” He will amass his army to march
against the great city in an attempt to overthrow with the cooperation of the world rulers
as described in Psalm 2: 1-4:

WHY do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth
set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his
anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then
shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

God is not mocked nor does he allow all the plans of the Antichrist to succeed. And so
for this cause God will cause strong delusion to come upon those inhabitants of the
world and great persecution will befall the Jews during the second 3 & 1/2 year period of
the Tribulation:

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be
taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall
consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his
coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs
and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish;
because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this
cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all
might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2Th.

But an interesting thing occurs with the strong delusion God also causes the
widespread preaching of the “Gospel of the Kingdom” to occur, a special set of
activities along with the persecution of the Jews and the nation of Israel. (Mat. 4:17) as
when He was on earth before his crucifixion and death; from that time Jesus began to
preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Many will come with
this same gospel; “The kingdom of Heaven is at hand.”

And millions will believe this gospel, the gospel of the kingdom, which will be preached
by Israel (144,000 sanctified Jews) to the ends of the earth to the glory of God. (Math 24:
14) The greatest period of evangelism mankind has ever seen is yet future for the world.
But at the same time the events of the great tribulation having taken 1/2 of all life, and
decimated the earth with fire and pestilence, plagues and horrors beyond explanation
will be the final event when God miraculously steps back into time to shorten these
dreadful days for the sake of the elect by the glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ to
planet earth as he comes with ten thousands of his saints, as in the prophecy of Enoch
also, the seventh from Adam, who prophesied of these, saying:

Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, (Jude 14-15) To execute
judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly
deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly
sinners have spoken against him.  He will subdue the Antichrist and do away with the
activity of the Devil and all the evil forces poised against Him in battle as described in
(2Th.2:8) And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the
spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming, and in (Re.19:15)
out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he
shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and
wrath of Almighty God.

Christ will then set up His Kingdom on Earth and the Millennial Reign will continue for
1,000 years as the Lord of Glory rules from the throne of David from the City of the Most
high; Jerusalem!

Yes Jesus is coming again. He is coming for His Saints at the Rapture in the air, and
again, after the Tribulation period ends, to the earth with His Saints, the Army of God, in
flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel
of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2Th.1:8)

What wonderful works the Lord has in store for us. May we begin anew to study the
prophetic word and grow in our expectations of what great things God has prepared for
those who love Him, and are the called according to His purposes...(Rom 8:28)

As you think about the future remember something, that the gospel of the kingdom is a
very special thing, but it is the gospel of the grace of God as it is now proclaimed during
this the age of Grace which is operative. This gospel of salvation by grace through faith
in our Lord Jesus Christ to all that believe.  The gospel of the Kingdom given during the
tribulation will be the glorious word given out under the blessing of God that will fulfill
the promise to Israel that they will inherit the earth. The gospel of the grace of God to
the church promises that we, the Bride of Christ will inherit the universe. It is a
marvelous set of things that God has prepared for us in the future.

So as you and I look to the prophetic future we must remember that God rules all of the
future as He has the past, and that what we must do in a world like this is to truly trust
Him, trust the Lord, not the world, trust God, not yourself, and the end by contrast to this
wicked world, will be a magnificent thing indeed for the Church which is His body:

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart
of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. (1Cor.2:9)
Are we living in the last days? (Part 1)
By Ken Schmidt

In the third chapter of Second Timothy, Paul speaks prophetically, identifying some of the
characteristics that we need to urgently heed concerning the end-times deception: “This
know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of
their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents,
unthankfull, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers,
incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, high-minded,
lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying
the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into
houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever
learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (2 Tm 3:1-7).

Ignorance of Biblical truth and the failure to discern the seducing doctrines of false
teachers who improperly divide the word of truth are two of today’s chief pitfalls
plaguing the believer that is ignorant of the times in which we are living, and with little
or no study of God’s Word, multitudes are unaware of the subtleties and the strategy of
the evil one. Without knowing the Word one cannot do the Word and failure to believe
that the Bible is the Word of God is the beginning of the great deception, the prelude to
the final apostasy in these last days of the “Church age”.

It was Horatius Bonar, a great saint of the past, who made the following statement in light
of the epistle of Jude, “In some ages evil seems to sleep. In the last days it will awake to
full life and activity. It will seize every instrument: the press, the pulpit, the platform.”
Today evil has taken over the press; it has taken over the pulpit and the platform. Bonar
continues; “It will enlist every science and art - music, sculpture, painting, portrait,
philosophy-making them all subservient to its development. The multiplication of crimes,
contempt of laws, blasphemies-these are the specimens of the energy of evil.” In this
day in which you and I live these are the things that fill our morning newspapers and are
the focus of prime time Television news and entertainment. There is no use recounting
ad nauseum the things that are happening in our contemporary society. We are now in
the midst of the last day’s apostasy. 1

Let’s consider these things in light of what is taking place in evangelical churches today.
Humanistic psychology, with its emphasis on self-love and its brood of other selfisms,
has become an accepted and promoted doctrine among pastoral counselors and
“Christian” psychologists. Prosperity evangelists have turned covetousness into God’s
foremost commandment for millions of professing Christians. Seeker-friendly churches
are working at filling their pews with lovers of pleasure while discouraging (and in many
cases dismissing) lovers of God. Purpose-driven churches are marketing formulas of
godliness in place of the power and leading of the Holy Spirit. The growing adulteration
of God’s Holy Scriptures in the form of subjective paraphrase and visual “translations” is
creating both a resistance to the truth and an anemia regarding spiritual discernment.

What can we conclude when we take a Biblical look at the conditions surrounding the
various movements and churches in America today? The ministry of all false prophets or
false teachers revolves around the spurious promises they make to their deluded
followers. Of course, every false prophet will give them impression that he is a true
prophet and that what he teaches is “God’s truth,” but it is fruitless and even dangerous
for anyone to try to find some “truth” or “good” in any false teacher. Why? Because a
religious leader who includes any unbiblical teachings in his ministry is, in God’s
estimation, a liar and a deceiver. He knows how to speak “great swelling words of
vanity” (2 Peter 2:18) in a way that deceives the unwary and appeals to the flesh. The
plans and dreams of such men are inevitably at variance with God’s agenda. What the
Lord revealed to Jeremiah concerning the false prophets of his day is applicable today
just as well.

A quick reading of Jeremiah 23:14-24 reveals that there were false prophets in Jeremiah’
s days and they were liars and immoral. By word and example, they strengthened the
hands of evildoers (v.16). They promised peace to those who despised God and
declared no evil would come to those who walked after their own imaginations (v.17).
They claimed to be sent of the Lord and to have heard His word, but they lied. What a sad
situation existed in Jeremiah’s day, and how sad also is the lot of those today who obey
men rather than God (vv.22-24). We must take heed and be wary of the false promises of
today’s false teachers.

Regarding the ingredients of apostasy, the magicians “wowed” those crowding Pharaoh’
s court with their pagan showmanship, mystical presence, and counterfeit signs and
wonders (Ex 7:11,12). So, too, are we seeing entertainment, experientialism, and
contemplative (Catholic) mysticism seducing multitudes of churches that formerly
majored in preaching, teaching, and sound doctrine.

Has “strong delusion” made inroads into the evangelical church? If you don’t think so,
you may have difficulty finding another explanation for the following agenda and
participation at the 2004 National Pastors’ Convention.

This event, sponsored by Youth Specialties (America’s most influential evangelical
organization for youth pastors and leaders) and Zondervan (publisher of The Purpose-
Driven Life, the NIV-Message Parallel Bible, and evangelical distributor for Mel Gibson’s
The Passion of the Christ DVD) began its daily program with contemplative prayer and
“Yoga & Stretching” exercises. Emerging church liturgies based upon Roman Catholic
and Orthodox rituals and sacramentals were introduced, including daily “labyrinth
prayer” opportunities. The latter is a meditative prayer walk around a circular, maze-like
pattern copied from a floor design found in Chartres Cathedral. This mystical Catholic
ritual dates back to the Middle Ages, when it became a substitute for journeying to the
dangerous, Muslim-controlled Holy Land in order to trace the “Passion route” of Jesus.
As Catholics walked the labyrinth and meditated on the sufferings of Christ in their
imagination, they obtained the same indulgences (pardons that would shorten their time
of suffering in Purgatory to expiate their sins) for making the actual pilgrimage.

The Convention’s evening programs included Christian comedy acts, The Jesus Painter
(who “paints portraits of Christ in under 20 minutes”), “Tribe Church Drumming
Experience”, “Personal Emotional Health Discussion”, an “emergent Pub with Live
Music,” and “Late Night Contemplative Prayer Services”.
The greater percentage of speakers were practitioners of mystical Christian prayer and
worship forms (referred to as “authentic faith”), and the rest appeared to be advocates
of, or at least encouragers for, the development of new methodologies and liturgies for
the emerging culture of the 21st century. One topic was titled “A New Theology for a New
World”. The double-location conference attracted thousands and featured many
influential church leaders, including Gordon MacDonald, Henry Cloud, Brennan Manning,
Dallas Willard, Joseph Stowell, Howard Hendricks, Gary Thomas, Tony Campolo, and Rick
Warren. The 2005 convention promises to be more of the same, with Christian
contemplative, experiential, and emerging church headliners such as Richard Foster,
Calvin Miller, Philip Yancy, Ruth Haley Barton, Doug Pagitt, and Dan Kimball.

Most of Christianity, according to the Scriptures, will progress into an apostate church
as the return of the Lord draws near. Jesus said to His disciples, “It is impossible but
that offenses will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!” (Lk 17:1). He later
posed this question: “When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Lk
18:8) The implied answer is no.
