Our Past:

We were once caught up in the Self Esteem/Self Deception game This entire matter of self and the pursuit of happiness that fallen man is engaged all boils down to the almighty dollar! For what good would all this time spent delving into the id and the dark recesses of the human soul accomplish if it were not for the $ in the cash register or bank account at the end of the day?

Is it really the benevolence in the heart of the counselor or psychologist that drives them to compassion for you and your problems, or is it their personal concern that next months bills won't be paid unless they help themselves to the financial good will of the unsuspecting through their so-called help and wise council?

But you say, maybe they are just mis-informed and actually think they are helping the hurting with their brand of council and it is me who is unloving and mean spirited by insisting that the matter be brought to light from a biblical perspective for examination through the grid of scripture, the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the prayers of two or more Believers united in a common bond of salvation through Jesus Christ, doing it God's way.

It may sound like a broken record, but we are reminded afresh from Scripture that man's attempts to run the show himself all started back with the temptation and fall that began in the Garden of Eden. "And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. (Genesis 2:15-17).

You and I know the frightening sequel to this story. Ignoring, and even defying, the command of God, mankind in the form of Adam and his wife Eve chose "the knowledge of good and evil" rather than the divine instruction. God told our original parents that they had no need of the knowledge of good and evil, because they were given freely the knowledge of God. So, the original sin of mankind came as a result of choosing human knowledge rather than divine knowledge. Indeed, it is possible to show that every day from then until now, man, in defiance of God, has chosen the knowledge that grows from his own fevered mind. He has made that knowledge the operating principle of his life, rather than the knowledge of God. About this, the Bible speaks again, declaring the insufficiency of human knowledge, and the danger that comes from total reliance upon it! Conversely, the Bible describes the blessing that comes from placing our trust in the knowledge of God.

Concerning mankind, the Apostle Paul says: "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; (Rom 1:28). So, to choose human knowledge is a very inferior choice to choosing the knowledge of God. In fact, one leads to life, and the other leads to death.

We are Christians, we're the called out ones- who have been separated from out of the world by God, cleansed from all sin through the shed blood of the Lamb of God, and given a new nature in Christ. According to 2 Peter Chapter 1 verses 3 & 4, We have not only been called by Him unto glory, but we have been made partakers of His Divine Nature, and have escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

In addition to this, we have also been made to sit with Him in heavenly places In Christ Jesus, (Positionally) and have received His righteousness in exchange for our sin. The full wrath of God has been poured out upon our Saviour the Lord Jesus Christ, and we have the absolute certainty of eternal life with Him, kept in Heaven, validated by His Word & Will, where neither Mouth or Rust can corrupt, and where neither can thieves break through and steal, kept for us in the Heart of God.

We've been saved for His purposes, to "occupy" until he comes as we await the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ for His Church, described as being "caught-up-together with the Lord in the clouds" as depicted by the Apostle Paul in his first epistle to the Thessalonians in chapter 4: verses 13-18.

What should we be doing in the meantime, while we await his Glorious Return?

I 'm proposing a few admonitions that may help you and I to elaborate on the meaning of "occupying" until He Comes. We find this admonition in Luke 19:13 as our Lord spoke the parable of the 10 servants, who were each given 10 (minas, the equilavent of three months’ wages), (ea aprox $17.50=total $175.00) and told to "occupy" or in other words to distribute or exchange the monetary value of the 10 minas to faithfully exchange the investment for something of equal or greater value as a faithful steward. They were entrusted with a certain amount that each was given to do with it wisely, considering what their Master had instructed they should do during his absence.

Now in a manner of speaking, we today (The Church, The Members of the Body of Christ) have been given a similar charge by our Lord, and that is; to remain faithful to His Word and hold forth the Word of God to a lost world, as the only Treasure that will endure both time and eternity. This "occupation" with the truth, will manifest itself in every saved individual in many different, yet distinct ways. However I believe the Clarion call for this generation must be the clear admonition made to Timothy by the Apostle Paul in his second letter to him chapter 2 verses 15: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth” (II Tim. 2:15).

Understanding properly the times in which we are living cannot be overemphasized. This is the Church age as you well know, but when did it begin, how long will it last, and when will it end? (Dispensational Chart of the Church Age)

We will explore these and other questions from the Word of God and with the Holy Spirit's direction and the resources at our disposal, attempt to define this admonition biblically in light of the dispensation in which we are living.  The Dispensation of Grace or the Church age, as we understand it in our day…
